Puertollano, 10th March 2023.

The Slovenian company Life for Tyres has inaugurated its new tyre recycling plant in Puertollano. The investment amounts to 28 million euros and will mean the creation of 40 direct jobs and up to 250 indirect jobs.

The event was attended by the President of the Regional Executive, Emiliano García-Page, the Minister for Territorial Policy and Spokesperson for the Spanish Government, Isabel Rodríguez; the Regional Minister for Economy, Business and Employment, Patricia Franco; and the Regional Minister for Sustainable Development, José Luis Escudero.

The project involves the establishment and start-up of a state-of-the-art depolymerisation plant in the La Nava industrial estate, using the strictest environmental and quality standards (recovery code R3), with a planned technical capacity of 27,010 tons of used tyres per year.

The result of the investment project is a high-tech plant whose end products are secondary materials for industry: 8,508 tons of recovered carbon black, 6,944 tons of depolymerised oil and 3,511 tons of high-alloy steel.

The project, received in 2017 through Invest in Spain, has had the active involvement of the Institute for Foreign Promotion of Castilla-La Mancha in all phases of the project, acting as a liaison between the company and the various Regional Government Departments involved in its development. This is a strategic project for the region, as in addition to having a high technological component, it is aligned with the strategy of Castilla-La Mancha in terms of circular economy.

The inauguration of this plant reinforces the positioning of Castilla-La Mancha as an investment receiving region; in 2022 the region has broken its historical record as a recipient of investment flows, with more than 566 million euros.
