The presentation of the documentation of the Singular Interest Project (PSI) to the Government of Castilla-La Mancha for the construction of the ToroVerde Cuenca park took place on 22 July. A step of great importance to make the ecotourism project promoted by the Puerto Rican company ToroVerde Parks, which will be developed in the Serranía de Cuenca and which has become one of the most ambitious initiatives in the region in terms of tourism and sustainability, a reality. The event took place at the Palacio de Fuensalida in Toledo and was presided over by the regional President, Emiliano García-Page.

This project has an estimated investment of more than 90 million euros in its first phase and has been declared of regional interest by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, favouring its administrative management thanks to its outstanding strategic importance. The project will occupy more than 1,000 hectares distributed between the municipalities of Cuenca, Mariana and Sotos, located 15 kilometres from the capital of Cuenca and with good connections to Madrid.

The park’s design combines outdoor adventure experiences with glamping accommodation, themed areas focused on biodiversity, local culture and gastronomy, and recreational spaces. The project includes the construction of large zip lines, nature trails, jumping areas, panoramic platforms, high altitude bicycle circuits and a high-end hotel complex operated by the international chain Nayara Resorts. These facilities will be integrated into the environment through low environmental impact solutions, using renewable energies, sustainable internal mobility and efficient water systems.

One of the most outstanding elements of the project is its capacity to generate employment in an area with significant demographic challenges. During the institutional presentation ceremony held at the Palacio de Fuensalida, it was indicated that the ToroVerde park will create around 300 direct jobs, in addition to a significant number of indirect jobs derived from construction, maintenance and tourist services. It is estimated that once in operation, the park could receive hundreds of thousands of visitors per year, which will boost economic sectors such as the hotel and catering industry, local commerce and transport.

In addition to the volume of investment and the innovation in its infrastructures, ToroVerde’s proposal also stands out for its comprehensive approach to development. The company has designed the park as a sustainable destination, with an educational purpose and oriented towards active leisure while taking care of the natural environment. The use of technologies applied to sustainability, the adapted design and the collaboration with local suppliers make up a model that combines economic profitability with environmental and social responsibility.

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has supported the project since its inception as an opportunity to strengthen the regional tourism offer and position it in the international arena. The sustained growth of the tourism sector in the autonomous community generates a favourable context for the implementation of projects such as ToroVerde, capable of attracting new visitor profiles and expanding the economic benefits beyond traditional destinations.

In short, ToroVerde represents an example of structured investment with sustainable planning and a long-term vision. The park is already a benchmark in the field of ecotourism and is a key element for the development of the Serranía de Cuenca. Its consolidation in the coming years could open the door to new forms of rural, active and sustainable tourism, favouring a balance between economic development and environmental protection.
