In addition to the inaugurations of the Cummins electrolyzer plant in Guadalajara and Sumitomo’s automotive industry cabling plant in Cuenca, the PSI for Meta’s data center project in Talavera de la Reina was finally approved.
Octubre de 2024 quedará como un mes para el recuerdo en lo relativo a la captación de inversión extranjera en Castilla-La Mancha, con la consecución de tres grandes hitos.
The first of these was the inauguration of the electrolyzer factory of the North American multinational “Accelera by Cummins”, located in the Ruiseñor industrial park in Guadalajara. This project involves the creation of 200 jobs and an investment of 75 million euros, of which 7.9 million will come from public funds, within the regional economic incentive program.
This pioneering factory is expected to produce 500 electrolyzers per year and reinforces the region’s position as a pole of innovation in the field of green hydrogen.

The second milestone arrived on the fourteenth, with the definitive approval of META’s PSI, which will enable the construction of a state-of-the-art data center in Talavera de la Reina. This project, which will have an investment of 750 million euros, will generate 250 direct jobs and 300 in the construction phase and will be located on an area of 191 hectares, of which 102 will be the META Center Data Campus, in the Torrehierro industrial estate, located twelve kilometers from the urban center of Talavera de la Reina.
The last great event of the month was the inauguration in Cuenca of the wiring factory for the automotive industry by the Japanese multinational Sumitomo, which has established itself in the facilities of the former Gamesa factory.
Institutions and representatives and shareholders of the Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze SE group from Japan and Germany, as well as managers of the main customer of this factory, the Volkswagen-SEAT group, have participated in the inauguration of this plant in which they will produce the high voltage harnesses for their electric vehicles. Production of the first prototypes will start at the end of this year and series deliveries at the beginning of 2026.
The plant already has the first 30 employees and expects to reach 350 jobs around 2028.

The achievement of these milestones demonstrates the region’s firm commitment to attracting foreign capital investment and reflects the long-term work involved in attracting this type of project. A path of several years where the constant collaboration between the companies and the different Administrations (Regional Government, ICEX-Invest in Spain and City Councils) has been key, which has been rewarded in this historic month of October 2024.
